NAGLAAN ang regional office ng Department of Science and Technology (DoST 11) sa Davao City ng P16.771 milyon para sa Micro-Grid Solar PV System sa New Bataan, Compostela Valley.
Ayon kay DoST 11 Director Anthony Sales, ang solar system ang maghahatid ng kuryente sa mga malalayo at liblib na komunidad sa New Bataan.
Sinabi ni Sales na ang pagpopondo ng proyekto ay naisakatuparan sa pamamagitan ng Philippine Council for Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DoST-PCIEERD).
Ang proyekto ay sa pagtutulungan ng DoST, ng Ateneo de Davao University at ng local government unit, na binuo para sa field test ng 50 kilowatts (kW) micro-grid solar PV system, na maghahatid ng kuryente sa mga bahay sa Barangay Manurigao na mayroong kabuuang 1,739 na populasyon noong 2011.
“It is the most remote among the barangays in New Bataan because of the absence of better road and transportation. It is also heavily surrounded with mountain ranges, and most of its territory is forest cover that has been one of the main sources of living of the residents aside from root crops,” paliwanag ni Sales.
Binanggit din ni Sales na ang dalawang cluster, na 50-kW bawat isa, ay pagaganahin upang magprodyus ng aabot sa 400-kwh na kuryente kada araw.
“Each cluster is designed to serve 50 houses at 1-kW per house at two to four hours per day,” aniya.
Para sa isang off-grid solar PV system, sinabi ni Sales na kinakailangan ang battery system dahil ang solar electricity ay ipinoprodyus tuwing araw at, madalas, ay ginagamit tuwing gabi.
“The project aims to design and evaluate the solar PV energy management systems (EMS). In addition, it also aims to identify contextual factors affecting the efficient use of solar electricity,” sabi pa ni Sales.
