NAGKAKAISA ang Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at Metro Manila Council (MMC) na maipagpatuloy ang promosyon sa sports sa mga lungsod at munisipalidad sa National Capital Region (NCR) sa pamamagitan ng Metro Basketball Tournament.
Isinagawa ng MBT ang matagumpay na “Isang Liga, Isang Laro Para sa Pagbabago” sa nakalipas na taon.
Ayon kay MMDA Chairman Danny Lim, positibo ang naging tugon ng lahat ng local government units (LGUs) sa resulta ng 24-year-old-and-under at 16-year-old-and-under basketball tournaments, sapat para ituloy ang programa ng MBT na pinamumunuan ni Bonnie Tan, team manager din ng Globalport Batang Pier.
“Pursuant to President Duterte’s campaign to promote sports and eradicate illegal drug use and the city mayor’s desire to raise the level of sports competitions, the MMDA and the MMC will again jointly host the Metro Manila-wide basketball and volleyball competitions this year,” pahayag ni Lim.
Muling naitalagang overall Tournament Director si Tan sa basketball (24-under and 17-under) at volleyball (women/girls) competition na inaasahang lalahukan ng 17 lungsod at munisipalidad.
Nilagdaan nina Lim at Tan ang Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) para sa isasagawang Metro Manila SportsFest kamakailan sa MMDA office sa Makati City. Ilan sa mga sumaksi sina MMDA Chief of Staff Jojo Garcia, MMDA Sports Director Atty. Crisanto Saruca Jr. at MBT finance manager Waiyip Chong at deputy tournament director Fidel Mangonon III.
“I’m truly grateful to the Metro Manila Council headed by the MMDA and the entire 17 Metro Manila City mayors for again entrusting us with their sports programs. Together we shall spearhead to PROMOTE SPORTS, DEVELOP home grown talents, DISCOVER and NURTURE future Filipino Athletes in all our cities,” pahayag ni Tan.
