Sinaluduhan ng Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) si incoming President Rodrigo Duterte matapos mabilang si KMP Chairman Rafael “Ka Paeng” Mariano sa mga nominado sa posisyon ng kalihim ng Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
“The NDFP (National Democratic Front of the Philippines) nomination of Ka Paeng to the DAR is based on KMP’s resolute and militant struggle for genuine land reform,” pahayag ni KMP Secretary General Antonio Flores.
“In the light of the absence of a land reform law due to the death of the failed and sham comprehensive agrarian reform program, incoming president Duterte should seriously consider the NDFP’s nomination of Ka Paeng to effect significant policy changes in the agrarian front,” ayon pa kay Flores.
Aniya, hindi lamang manunungkulan si Mariano sa kanyang posisyon sa DA dahil siya ay napili ng susunod na pangulo ng bansa subalit bilang tunay na kinatawan ng maralitang Pinoy sa Gabinete ni Duterte.
“Should Ka Paeng be appointed as DAR secretary, I am absolutely sure, he shall not depart and instead, will further link arms with the Filipino peasantry’s mass movement and militant struggle against land-grabbing, land use and crops conversion, and other forms of feudal and semi-feudal exploitation,” giit niya.
Umaasa ang KMU na tutuparin ni Duterte ang kanyang planong buhayin ang usapang pangkapayapaan sa NDFP at isulong ang paglagda sa isang kasunduan sa reporma sa ekonomiya at lipunan, kabilang na ang tunay na reporma sa lupa at industriyalisasyon. (Chito A. Chavez)
