Laylo, kinuha ang slot ni Sadorra

KINUHA ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines ang serbisyo ni Grandmaster Darwin Laylo na pinalitan si Grandmaster Julio Catalino “Ino” Sadorra para sa national team na sasabak sa 44th World Chess Olympiad sa Agosto 5 hanggang 18 sa Moscow, Russia.

“ Grandmaster Julio Catalino “Ino” Sadorra will be replaced by Grandmaster Darwin Laylo, who placed second to International Master Haridas Pascua in the 4-man elimination tournament held recently, in the Olympic team,” sabi ni Atty. Cliburn Anthony Orbe, newly-appointed executive director ng National Chess Federation of the Philippines sa gabay nina chairman/president Prospero “Butch” Arreza Pichay Jr. at secretary-general Abraham “Bambol” Ng Tolentino Jr.

Ang final line-up ayon kay Orbe ay sina Laylo, reigning Philippine National Chess Champion Grandmaster Rogelio “Banjo” Barcenilla Jr., Grandmaster John Paul Gomez, International Master Paulo Bersamina at International Master Haridas Pascua.

Si Laylo, isa sa top players ng multi-titled Philippine Army chess team sa pangangasiwa nina Usec Lieutenant General, AFP (Ret.) Arthur Tabaquero (AFP Presidential Adviser on Military Affairs) at Col. Dexter Macasaet (Director, SSC, IMCOM, PA), ay nagbigay ng kanyang kahandaan sa kanyang Olympiad quest kung saan ay sisimulan na niya ang intensive training ngayon Sabado.

“Special thanks to our NCFP Chairman/President Prospero “Butch” Pichay Jr. and Executive Director Atty. Cliburn Anthony Orbe for this given opportunity. I will truly give my best to play and help our (PH) Olympic team.” sabi ni Laylo.

Si Laylo ay galing sa magandang performance sa Hong Bao Rating Tournament 2020 (Open division) na ginanap sa Singapore Chess Federation Conference Room sa Bishan, Singapore nitong Enero 25 hanggang 27, 2020, kung saan ang San Roque, Marikina City based Laylo ay nais masunda ang kanyang tagumpay sa muling paglahok sa Singapore Chess Federation High Performance Enrichment (HPE) sa Bishan, Singapore.
