NAGSALANSAN si Rhena Itesi ng 20 puntos at 19 rebounds para sandigan ang National University Lady Bulldogs sa dominanteng 112-58 panalo kontra De La Salle kahapon sa UST Quadricentennial Pavilion at patatagin ang marka sa UAAP women’s basketball.

Nag-ambag si Jack Animam na may 18 puntos at 13 rebounds para sa ikatlong sunod na panalo ng Lady Bulldogs sa Season 82 at ika-83 sunod sa kabuuan ng kampanya sa premier collegiate league.

“I told the girls to play hard. We’ve been coming off the start very slow. Going into the game, they are in it by the second quarter and then slow again in the third quarter,” pahayag ni NU coach Patrick Aquino.

“I just want us to be consistent with everything – to start strong and finish stronger.”

Nanguna sina Chuchi Paraiso at rookie Kent Pastrana sa Lady Archers sa naiskor na 14 at 11 puntos, ayon sa pagkakasunod. Bagsak ang La Salle sa 1-2.

Napanatili rin ng University of Santo Tomas ang malinis na karta sa 3-0 nang gapiin ang Ateneo, 91-73, sa Araneta Coliseum.

Hataw si reigning MVP Grace Irebu sa naiskor na 33 puntos mula sa 12-of-20 sa field, bukod pa sa 13 rebounds at 2 blocks upang panatilihin ang Tigresses sa sosyong liderato.

“This year is gonna be different. My first objective is I want to bring my team to the Finals,” sambit ng Congolese center.

Bukod kay Irebu, nagpakita rin ng impresibong laro sina Lon Rivera na may 14 puntos, 8 rebounds, 3 steals at 2 assists, at Tantoy Ferrer na may double-double 13 puntos at 18 rebounds sa nasabing panalo ng UST.

“We had a slow start nung first half, playing dismal defense so I told the girls that we need to go back sa trasition defense because doon kami nalalamangan ng Ateneo,” ayon kay UST coach Haydee Ong.

Nanguna naman si Alyssa Villamor sa Lady Eagles na bumaba sa markang 2-1 sa itinalang 17 puntos, six rebounds, at apat na assists.
