Team Lakay nagwagi sa 5th Philippine Martial Arts Hall Of Fame

Apat na miyembro ng Team Lakay ay pinarangalan sa 5th Philippine Martial Arts Hall Of Fame sa Casa Ibarra sa loob ng Mall of Asia sa Manila nitong Lunes, Abril 29.

Si head coach Mark Sangiao, reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, ang dating ONE World Champions Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio at Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon ay nakatanggap ng Sinag Tala Award na binibigay taun taon ng governing martial arts body.

Nabigyan ng parangal ang team para sa kanilang mahusay na performance sa pagrerepresenta para sa ating bansa sa global stage sa pamamagitan ng ONE Championship kung saan nanalo sila ng apat na mixed martial arts World Titles noong 2018.

Para kay Folayang, malaki ang pasasalamat niya na ang nagawa nila para sa Philippine mixed martial arts ay pinahahalagahan.

“I’m just happy because this is the fruits of our labor. They’re beginning to see what we’re doing in the world of martial arts,” pahayag niya.

Ang PhilMaHof ay itinatag noong 2012 ng namayapang si Garitony Nicolas, na kilalang nagtayo ng Modern Arnis Filipino Martial Arts.

“This is very important because you see your fellow athletes, from different disciplines, appreciate what we’re doing for the country,” bahagi niya.

Hindi ito ang unang beses na pinarangalan sila ngayong taon dahil nitong Pebrero ay kinilala sila ng Philippine Sportswriters Association, ang pinakamatandang media organization sa bansa.

“Of course, this becomes a motivation to do more and to set a better example as an athlete,” sabi ni Folayang.

“Knowing that there are a lot of people rooting for us, it would only motivate us in the future to give out inspiring performances.”
