Bilang pagtugon sa lumalaking demand para sa mas maaksiyong sports programming, ipinahayag kahapon ni TV5 Network Inc. president Vincent ‘Chot’ Reyes ang pakikipagtambalan ng local sports network sa pamosong ESPN.

“Our partnership with ESPN, long recognized as the worldwide leader in sports, gives us tremendous upside in the quality of sports programming that we bring to the market,” pahayag ni Reyes sa media conference para sa pormal na paglulunsad ng ESPN 5 kahapon sa Snaps Sports Bar ng Sofitel-Philippine Plaza Hotel.

Batay sa kasunduan, binigyan ng ESPN ang TV5 nang mahigit 2,500 oras para sa karagdagang programming. Gagabayan din nila ang pagbuo ng Philippine edition ng iconic ‘SportsCenter’.

Bukod sa regular coverage ng PBA, FIBA, Gilas Pilipinas, UFC at PSL, ipalalabas din sa ESPN 5 ang mahigit 70 laro ng National Football League, kabilang ang pamosong ‘Monday Night’, ‘Sunday Night’ at playoff games. Nakalinya rin ang NBA at Super Bowl.
