NEW YORK (AP) — Naitala ni Puerto Rican fighter Felix Verdejo ang pinakamalaking panalo sa kanyang career sa pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Puerto Rico.

Ginulat ng 23-anyos na si Verdejo ang liyamadong si Juan Jose Martinez sa impresibong technical knockout sa ikalimang round nitong Sabado (Linggo sa Manila) sa Madison Square Garden.

Naitala niya ang panalo may 2:40 sa ikalimang round.

Bunsod ng panalo, nasundan niya ang tinatahak na tagumpay sa bigtime boxing scene ng mga kababayang sina Felix Trinidad at Miguel Cotto.

Napanatili ni Verdejo ang malinis na karta sa 22-0, tampok ang 15 knockout para tanghaling pinakabagong boxer mula sa Caribbean island na makagawa ng pangalan sa Garden.

“He was tailor made for me, he stood in front of me, right there. It was my kind of fight,” sambit ni Verdejo.

“I trained a lot harder and I have adjusted to the pressure I felt in previous fights,” aniya.
